Getting Over a Breakup
Will
I be able to move on? Can I love again? Why did
he/ she leave? What went wrong? are some of the series of questions that come
to mind after a breakup.
Breaking
up is one of the most traumatizing experiences especially when you’ve started
envisaging life together. It could come at a time when you least expect it or
think that you’re at a level in which all is well. It is normal to deny the
breakup as a terrible nightmare that will soon go away. It may get to a stage
in which you are not interested in doing anything or hearing about the other
person.
But,
you have to move on. However, moving on involves accepting the fact that that
he/she is gone. This is very difficult to do especially if the relationship was
a longtime one and there was a lot of intimacy.
Just as a wound or cut hurts at the time but heals overtime, so also the
pain of a breakup.
It
is not wrong to shed tears and allow yourself to grieve but this should not be
for too long. Do not isolate yourself rather keep busy. Get involved with what
interest you, go out with friends etc. It is very important you take care of
yourself physically, pray over the situation but do not rush into a relationship yet or try to
retaliate, give yourself enough time to heal and get over the breakup, then try to examine what caused the break and
work on your faults though they may seem little.
