7 Found Dead inside home
The police in Delta State are investigating the circumstances
surrounding the mysterious discovery of seven lifeless bodies in a
bungalow at Ogbeiwase Quarters, Ime-Obi in Agbor, Ika South Local
Government Area of the state.
The decomposing corpses of a retired military officer identified as Jacob Ikenchukwu Obuteh, as well as six others were on Tuesday discovered in the building, which was locked from behind.
Two of the deceased, whose names were given as Nkechi and Patience were said to be biological daughters of the military pensioner, while the corpses of three kids between the ages of two and three were said to be grandchildren of Obuteh. Although, the identity of the seventh victim, a middle-aged man was yet to be established, a source said he was the boyfriend of one of the deceased daughters.
An inside source in Agbor Police Division told Daily Sun that when the police arrived the scene, the entrance and exit doors of the bungalow were locked from behind, adding that the decomposing corpses were seen through one of the windows.
This, according to the source, made the police to force the entrance door open to gain access into the house. “When the front door was forced open, five lifeless and decomposing corpses were found in one of the rooms in the house, while the remaining two corpses were found in another room,” the source said.
According to the source, there was an Elepaq power generating set at the corridor inside the bungalow with the ignition on but the fuel tank empty, fuelling speculations that generator fumes might have killed the victims.
However, the police source insisted that investigation of a case of Sudden and Unnatural Death (SUD) was going on, pointing out that a pathologist had arrived at the Central Hospital, Agbor where the corpses were deposited to perform autopsy to ascertain the true cause of the death.
Daily Sun findings revealed that relatives and neighbours of the victims raised called the attention of the police, following the odour oozing out of the bungalow, which was shut for about three days before the discovery.
Further investigation revealed that the one of the daughters of the late military pensioner said to be a military officer in Lagos, had come to Agbor last week for the one-year anniversary of the death of their mother.
She was said to have purchased a big Elepaq generator on her arrival at Agbor to provide electricity for their family house during the period of the anniversary, which was rounded-up with a church thanksgiving.
